My main character Sombre from my 2006 NaNoWriMo novel, Oltalom. Sombre is of a race simply called the "shadows", but he is different from the others. Shadows are born from disturbed souls with memories only of bad things from their human lives, but Sombre was born to a human and a shadow, which therefore makes him a jin'ei or halfbreed. He was born, and he grew, and his body stopped aging around 16 years of age, which is why he is so small. This is shaded in the style of "cel shading", the general style cartoons use.
